G99 Relay Panels

Don't Compromise with Compliance

DSH Cables & Controls have built an incredible reputation for bespoke low voltage switchgear, with each g99 relay panel designed around the protection, control and metering needs of the application.

Our G99 relay panels, commonly referred to as secondary phase failure or loss of mains protection, are sometimes required by your DNO and are often considered standard best practice for larger installations using renewable energy sources. They play a crucial role in generation schemes where equipment runs in parallel with the mains supply, helping safeguard the site when voltage or frequency deviations are detected. Many inverter types now include G99 protection, but a single, independently witness-tested point of mains protection can be essential for compliance, grid stability and long-term reliability. If your site connection, electricity export or generation system needs clear isolation, a reliable safety device and dependable power control, our engineers can specify the right panel for the use case.

Our solution is built on the foundations of a PV distribution board unit with an incomer, breaking component, MCB/MCCBs for the inverters, surge protection and fuse protection. The key difference is that we use the ABB CM-UFD G99 relay, with an lcd display for status visibility, to monitor the grid for over and under voltage, adjustable voltage limits, frequency changes and other anomalies. In a loss of mains situation, the inverter system is de-energised by the contactor until the fault has cleared and the electrical grid connection is stable. Different types of energy installation need different protection, so each g99 relay panel can be supplied with metering, contactors, interlocks, an isolation device or export control equipment, installed to suit the site, the standard required and the application. This supports renewable energy sources while helping maintain safety, grid stability, mains reliability and safe power flow.

Panels Built Around Your Installation

A g99 relay panel works best when it is considered alongside the rest of the electrical arrangement, not treated as an isolated item. DSH Cables can design and manufacture bespoke panel assemblies that bring together PV distribution boards, AC isolators, metering, contactor controls, interlocks and monitoring equipment in a format suited to the installation.

This offering helps contractors and project teams keep the system layout clear, serviceable and practical once the site is live. From custom PV equipment to bespoke enclosure configurations, including door mounted controls and pre drilled backplates where required, the panel unit can be specified around the application, the available space and the wider low voltage switchgear already planned for the project. That ability to match various types of site layout can save time during installation and future maintenance.

Support For Renewable Energy Systems

Commercial PV and battery storage projects need dependable control of power moving between the generator system, the site and the mains supply. DSH Cables supports these applications with G99 protection, export controls, reverse power relay controls and related panel assemblies for renewable energy sources.

Where export limitation is required, the correct panel and control approach can help the installation operate efficiently within the intended connection arrangement and aid connection to both the distribution network and the distribution network operator’s requirements. DSH Cables can also support AC and DC coupled battery storage, PV distribution boards, enclosed AC isolators, consumer units, UPS panels and generation metering as part of a coordinated package.

For installers, consultants and end clients, the value is a more organised system with clear points for isolation, metering, control and protection. Our expertise helps each form of assembly cover all the requirements of the project while staying practical for the market it serves. Our design approach can suit electricity generated by solar PV and other parallel generator arrangements, including sites that also use wind turbines, while keeping the finished installation easier to understand, easier to maintain and better aligned with long term grid reliability.
