Control Panels Cheshire
PV Distribution Boards
PV Distribution Boards play a crucial role in solar power systems. Acting as the central hub, they connect inverters to onsite electrical loads, ensuring energy is distributed safely and efficiently.
What distinguishes our offering from standard off-the-shelf units is our ability to integrate a wide array of both essential and optional components into premium, pre-wired, pre-assembled systems – effectively creating a plug-and-play solution.
These can include, but are not limited to:
- MID Approved Generation Metering
- SolarEdge Firefighter Gateway
- SolarEdge Commercial Gateway
- G99 Protection
- Export Controls ( G100 or RPR )
- RCD Protection
G99 Relay Panels
DSH Cables & Controls has earned a strong reputation in the industry, largely thanks to the reliability of our G99 Relay Panels.
These panels, also known as Secondary Phase Failure or Loss of Mains Protection units, are sometimes required by your DNO but are widely regarded as best practice on larger installations. Although many modern inverters now include built-in G99 protection, it is often preferable, and occasionally mandatory, to have a centralised protection point that can be independently witness tested by a test engineer.
Our solution is based on the foundation of a PV Distribution Board, incorporating an incomer, isolating device, MCBs or MCCBs for the inverters, and both surge and fuse protection. The key differentiator is our use of the ABB CM-UFD G99 Relay, which monitors the grid for irregularities such as over or under-voltage, frequency deviations, and other faults. In the event of a loss of mains, the contactor disconnects the inverters until the issue is resolved and grid stability is restored.
AC Isolators Cheshire
AC Isolator Panels are a fundamental component of any PV installation. While you might not need high-spec switchboards for every project, AC isolation is absolutely essential.
Our enclosed isolators cover a broad range, from 16A all the way up to 4000A. We only use top-tier components in their construction — with critical equipment like this, there’s no room for compromise.
One of the main advantages of enclosed isolators is their flexibility. We can scale the enclosure to suit any cable size you need, integrate metering, and include latching state contactors for manual generator intertrip functions. Each unit is built specifically to match your system design, operational requirements, and any physical limitations on site.
Export Limitation Cheshire
The release of G100 Issue 2 brought significant changes to the standards required for system compliance.
We offer solutions for both conventional contactor-based Reverse Power Relay setups and advanced G100 technology capable of monitoring and controlling the output of any inverter. The former provides a more budget-friendly option that complements a manufacturer’s system, while the latter offers greater efficiency and control.
Each approach has its own advantages, and the most effective way to determine which suits your needs is to speak with a member of our team.
Metering/ Contractor Panels
Our contactor and metering panels are both evolutions of our standard AC Isolator Panels. You still have the AC Isolation function with the additional benefits of MID Approved Metering for accurate data collection, and contactors which can offer various functions.
Metering Panels – With Metering, you will most likely need to fit some form of MID Approved Meter somewhere in your system. We can incorporate this into our isolator panels to save you time installing and wiring this onsite, not to mention, the door-mounted, MID Meters look incredible on our panels. This is a cost effective and efficient way to incorporate metering into your system and can be installed on Mild Steel Enclosures and GRP with a IP66 Inspection Window.
Contactor Panels – Similarly to Metering Panels, our contactor Panels allow for another method of isolation rather than using the traditional rotary isolator. We can install the contactor with a latching state momentary key switch. This is excellent if you have a backup generator onsite, need your PV System to intertrip, the momentary key switch ensures your system will not reenergise until the trained personnel onsite manually restart the system.
String Boxes Cheshire
DC String Junction and Combiner Boxes are increasingly replacing traditional DC Isolators, which have come under scrutiny due to their association with some recent major solar fires. Since most inverters already include built-in DC isolation, our Junction and Combiner Boxes offer the flexibility to isolate individual strings and add customised fuse protection on the positive, negative, both, or neither conductors.
Junction Boxes – These are particularly useful for clients offering maintenance services, as they enable isolation of individual strings and help identify exact fault locations. With added fuse protection, correctly sized components selected with our expert advice, and high-quality craftsmanship from our team, you can rest assured that your system is safe and reliable.
Combiner Boxes – Providing all the benefits of Junction Boxes, Combiner Boxes also allow multiple strings to be combined into a single armoured cable. This simplifies cable management and enhances safety, especially when dealing with long cable runs.
UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) Panel
Our UPS system, developed by our Director Simon Holdcroft, is an innovative battery changeover solution that enables a property’s entire electrical load to switch seamlessly from the grid to battery power without any interruption or flicker.
What makes our UPS system stand out from others on the market is its ability to supply power to the whole home (as long as the batteries have sufficient charge), rather than just essential circuits. At DSH Cables & Controls, we appreciate that everyone has different priorities—whether you’re working remotely, watching Netflix, or washing the car, as long as there’s battery power, your supply remains uninterrupted.
We offer options compatible with both AC and DC coupled battery storage systems.
